Arthur (Artie) Gosling was the founder of Artie's Music.  The first store was established in 1979 in the small North Queensland town of Ingham.

 

In 1982 Artie and his wife Betty moved to Townsville to open another store.  The Townsville store grew from next to nothing to a store over 3 times it's origional size over 5 years of running.  During this time Artie opened stores in Maroochydore, Strathpine, Indooroopilly and Aspley, which are all located in the Brisbane area.  Artie was then given the title of'most stores owned by an independant retailer' based on this sucess Artie and his wife moved to Brisbane themselves.

 

In 2001 Artie decided to finally take the back seat in his business and began selling off his empire.  Now there are two stores in Townsville, both owned by his son Wayne and his wife Lucia and two stores in Brisbane, one owned by his youngest son Matt and the other was owned by his eldest son Mark and his wife Elizabeth until the 1st of July 2008 when it was sold to Peter Franklin who has worked with the Artie's team for many years.

 

Artie's Music is a family business, therefore we take so much pride in preserving it's great reputation.
